The rules you agree to by using the site

Three obligations sit at the center of these terms. Read them together: each one describes what you may do, and what happens to your access if you go past it.

Use of the site

Read, share, and link — do not republish

You may read, share, and link to our content for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not republish substantial portions of our reporting without permission. Automated scraping, bulk downloading, or use of our content to train commercial systems requires prior written consent. We may restrict access where use interferes with the site or with other readers.

Acceptable conduct

Use the site as a reader, not a threat

You agree not to misuse the site, including attempting to gain unauthorized access, distributing malware, or interfering with normal operation. You also agree not to submit knowingly false information intended to mislead our editorial team. We may block access for conduct that violates these terms.

Limitation of liability

The site is provided as-is

The site is provided on an "as is" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Intellectual property, and what belongs to whom

All original reporting, headlines, and site content are owned by Ixmavelle Digital or its licensors and are protected by copyright. That covers the writing, the framing, our charts and maps, and the way a story is assembled on the page.

Quoting with attribution and a link is permitted — a sentence or two in a newsletter, a discussion thread, or a lesson plan is fine when our name and a working link travel with it. Using our name or our logo in a way that suggests endorsement without permission is not. Third-party material remains the property of its owners, and where we publish a photograph, a court filing, or a wire item, that owner's terms come along with it.

If you need a substantial excerpt for a commercial use, ask first. We will tell you plainly whether we can grant it, who owns the piece you want, and what credit line we would ask for.

User submissions

When you submit a tip, a correction, or a message, you confirm the information is yours to share and is not knowingly false. You grant us the right to use the submission for editorial purposes, including verification and follow-up. We are not obligated to publish any submission, and we may edit for length, clarity, or legal risk. Confidentiality requests are handled as described in our Privacy Policy — tell us at the start of your message if you need that protection, and we will not pass your details to a third party without your agreement.

A tip reaches our desk as a document, a message, or a call. Either way it is treated as unpublished material until a reporter has verified what it says.

Before you send us something

  • Say what is checkable: a date, a venue, and who to ask next.
  • Flag anything you cannot share publicly before you send it.
  • Do not send an accusation you have not seen evidence for.

Our charts are part of the reporting we own. Quote them with credit and a link, and do not alter the numbers behind them.

Accuracy, corrections, and the limits of both

We work to report accurately and correct errors when they occur. Despite that effort, content may contain mistakes or may become outdated as events develop — a bill that stalls, a ruling that gets appealed, a race that shifts after a filing. We do not warrant that all information is complete or current at the moment you read it.

Corrections that change the meaning of a story are labeled. If you spot an error in a date, a vote count, or a quotation, tell us through the contact page and include the story you are reading. We will check it against the record and reply with what we find.

Where our responsibility ends

Third-party links

Our articles may link to external websites, including court filings, government pages, and other news outlets. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Following an external link means that site's terms apply to what you do there, and its operators — not Ixmavelle Digital — answer for what it publishes.

No professional advice

Content on this site is journalism and commentary, not legal, financial, or medical advice. Articles may describe court rulings or policy proposals, but they are not a substitute for professional guidance on your own situation. Decisions you make based on what you read here are your own responsibility, and a general explanation of a statute is not an opinion about your case.

Governing terms and changes

We may update these Terms of Service to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date, and where a change narrows what you may do with our reporting, we will say so in plain language at the top. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

The policies that sit beside these terms

These terms describe how you may use the site. Two companion pages describe how we handle what you give us and what we store on your device. Read them together, and treat the set as the full agreement between you and Ixmavelle Digital.

Questions about these terms

Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page. Our desk reads messages Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM ET, and replies in the order they arrive.
